The well-equipped nanofactory, which has been expanded to include a second clean room, now guarantees coverage of the entire value chain from raw material and consumable material control through production to the stable, sterile, injectable end product in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines.
InnoMedica's own Nanofactory in Marly near Fribourg is an important success factor for the company and a clear commitment to Switzerland as a production location. The Nanofactory unites all departments under one roof - from research and development to production in the modular cleanrooms and from quality control to delivery of the finished vials. What began at the end of 2014 with the Swissmedic certification of the first cleanroom has, following the approval of the larger Cleanroom II in 2021 and the approval of large-scale production in 2023, established itself as a well-equipped production facility that is designed for the required production volumes with an existing marketing authorization. Thanks to the multi-purpose design of InnoMedica's cleanrooms, they can be used modularly for the production of various medicines.
To successfully bring a product to market in nanomedicine, close cooperation between all departments is required. Research produces new prototypes and thus drives the product pipeline forward. Quality control develops the analytical methods to ensure the quality of the product and production ensures the translation of the prototypes into the GMP environment, gradually expanding the processes to the required production quantities for use in clinical trials and later for market launch. All specialist areas benefit from each other in the cross-departmental collaboration and synergies and insights are generated that ensure the rapid and efficient transfer of innovations into routine pharmaceutical production.
The entire knowledge of all production steps of the complex liposomal nanomedicines therefore remains in-house. This enables continuous further development and flexible adaptation of InnoMedica's technology platform to the respective medical application.
